MGP MARSHALLING

MARSHAL SIGN-ON FOR MGP 2023 NOW OPEN

The Isle of Man TT Marshals (TTMA) has recently announced that signing-on to marshal at the 2023 Manx Grand Prix is now officially open. As a marshal, you’ll play an integral role in making the centenary event happen. Those interested should visit www.iomttmarshals.com

Jane Corlett, Director at TTMA Ltd, commented:

“Whether it’s your first time visiting the MGP, or you’ve been following the racing for decades, you’ll be made to feel very welcome. And, if you’ve never marshalled anywhere before? You can rest assured you’ll be looked after by the Chief Sector Marshal in your sector and teamed up with an experienced marshal to learn the ropes. There are opportunities around the course to suit all interests, backgrounds and levels of experience.

You also don’t need to do every qualifying and race session, but every session you can do really does help. By marshalling, you’ll be up close to the action out on track, as well as gaining a new set of skills for free and joining a community that often turn into lifelong friends.”

Marshals will also be invited to attend the Marshals Supper held in the Mercury Club on Sunday 27th August. The supper is free to attend to marshals who have signed on and tickets are on a first-come, first-served basis. The event is a great opportunity to meet and catch up with fellow marshals from differing sectors, celebrate long-serving marshals, and spend time with some of the MGP’s most legendary riders.

SIGNING ON

Anyone interested in marshalling at this year’s MGP is able to register and sign on for sessions via the TTMA website. Once an individual has registered online, they will then have to complete the two mandatory online training modules. The modules are quick and easy to complete and thanks to improvements made to the online platform, they can now be accessed and completed on a mobile device.

Those that have already marshalled at the 2023 Isle of Man TT Races or the 2022 Manx Grand Prix will not be required to complete the two online modules again. They simply need to sign on for the days they are available for this year’s MGP by logging into their account on the TTMA website and selecting their sessions.

Following a successful trial at last year’s Manx Grand Prix, the TTMA is continuing with the new sector ‘00’ for marshals to sign onto for MGP 2023. Marshals that sign onto this sector are able to be deployed within any sector of the course, providing the opportunity to experience the true uniqueness of the 37.73 mile Mountain Course in all its glory as well as playing an integral role in minimising delays to the start of sessions.

ADDITIONAL TRAINING

In addition to the two online training modules, the TTMA also offers an Incident Management Course (IMC) for marshals that have undergone a minimum of three sessions on the Mountain Course. The day-long course is purpose built to provide MGP marshals with the chance to gain more in-depth knowledge on the use of equipment as well as the handling procedures for breakdowns and incidents.

Marshals can secure their place on an IMC through the new online booking service available via their account on the TTMA website. Dates and further training information is available here.
